The Petun Research Institute is a registered charitable Foundation, incorporated in 1995 to conduct and publish interdisciplinary scholarly research particularly relating to the Petun-Wyandot native people. The Institute conducts archaeological surveys and excavations within the Petun Archaeological Zone of Ontario under applicable legislation, maintains an Artifact Repository, provides research facilities to accredited scholars, conducts and supports interdisciplinary studies and research related to the Petun-Wyandot and other native peoples, advises and assists researchers, educators, Native organizations and other appropriate agencies, provides public outreach and educational programs, and publishes research results. The Institute owns no capital assets and pays no salaries. Its work to date has been entirely supported by donations, sales and fees-for-service. To summarise its aims, the Institute has adopted the slogan: ROPE Research, Outreach, Publication, Education. |
